Appointed KGB chief in 1967, he became a full member of the Politburo in 1973. His firm handling of dissident movements enhanced his reputation, enabling him to be chosen as Brezhnev's successor in 1983, but he died after less than 15 months in office. Greeting card, 3.5 x 6.5, bearing a printed Russian sentiment, and signed in blue ballpoint. In fine condition.
